BIO

Amy Heggie was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, and grew up amongst the natural spectacle of the West Coast of Canada, which now provides the inspiration for her work.

Her life long interest in art was cultivated at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in the early 1990’s. Then transpired a (not-so) brief hiatus from art to run a successful business in the bustling heart of Vancouver. In 2000 Amy chose to leave the city for a more relaxed life style on bucolic Pender Island, located in the Strait of Georgia just Northeast of Victoria.

In 2005 Amy once again began to pursue her art in earnest, and she subsequently developed the photo-realistic style which has become her trademark. She has chosen to graphically render the unique natural beauty of her Gulf Island’s flora and fauna. The Island’s abundant subject matter provided for Amy’s prolific output of in excess of 30 drawings last year, the majority of which are now in the hands of collectors.

She has also starting pursuing a musical direction and has started singing and playing blues harp in a blues band called "Big House Voodoo"
